Dearest Molvi Abdur-Raheem

After the sunnah greeting, I received your card written by you on the train yesterday, along with today’s mail. It was sad to hear of the difficulties you endured during the journey. Personally, I am upset at your departure. Aside from dearest Yusuf missing Ramadhan, it is likely that you too could miss a significant portion of it. Once his scheme to arrive by car was unsuccessful, it may have been pertinence on the part of dearest Yusuf had he returned to London by plane. His own companion returned to London on 6th November, he should have returned with him. Upon his return, he would have received better medical treatment and brought peace of mind to his wife. In my humble opinion, it was immaturity on his part not to have gone back.

At the very least, he ought to have heeded advice from the Pakistani ambassador with regard to the visa and the ease of travel to India by way of train. To travel for ten days over sea in such a fragile condition is a real cause for concern. May almighty Allah facilitate him with ease of travel.

You wrote of your intent to return by 1st of Ramadhan; however, Yusuf’s medical treatment is essential and imperative. Do not permit him to return until after such time that he has referred himself to the Surat Hospital. Your return by 1st Ramadhan is improbable, a telegram from Haji Yakub reported the ship is scheduled to make port on 23rd November, corresponding to 1st or 2nd Ramadhan. I am somewhat disappointed; when he sought to arrive here, he should have accepted the recommendation of the Pakistani ambassador; however, we must endure the tribulation destined for us. Molvi Ismail has read your letter and Abul-Hasan will be apprised shortly.

That is all. Salaam

From: the humble-writer

After the sunnah greeting, last night a shocking and heart-rending accident took place. Moulana Hameed-Uddin Sahib of Calcutta along with his wife and children were travelling from Delhi when they collided with a truck near Muzaffarnagar. Moulana Hameed-Uddin together with the driver died instantly and the rest are in a Delhi hospital. May almighty Allah have mercy. Mine own health has suffered the previous two days, along with a high temperature I have had pain all over and for the duration, the mail was unattended to. I am sill unwell but being close to Ramadhan there are stacks of mail. I am forever desirous of your prayers.

That is all. Salaam
