Volume 1 Letter 85
From: Hazrat
Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib (May his secret be sanctified)
To: Al-Haj Muhammad
Yakub Sahib (May his shadow be lengthened)
Date: 19th
Sha’ban 1388/9th November 1968
After the sunnah greeting. I received the detailed letter in
today’s mail, written on Saturday. I have forwarded a copy of a telegram and
letter with reference to the London
jama’at, written by dearest Yusuf on 31st October and received here
on 8th November. I hope it has arrived. There have been no further
reports since.
In Delhi Haji Muhammad Shafi Sahib, may Allah grant him an
excellent reward, has dispatched a telegram from the Foreign Office to the
Indian ambassador in Iran.
No reply had been received in Delhi
up until Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the offices are closed, he wrote of
informing me once the office opens on Monday. I expect I will be informed by
tomorrow if a response is received today.
It upset me that the papers in Bombay
published the article. We prefer not to have any publicity for our gatherings,
however, the Hindi and English papers really laid it on thick, and this has
made me a little anxious. Should there be any further articles in the Ahmadabad
or Bombay papers then kindly send
the cuttings. I trust that the Ijtima will be brought to a successful closure
by this evening, inshallah.
I received a letter from Moulana Manzoor Sahib Nu’mani from Bombay;
he writes of Molvi Ateeq-ur-Rahman staying an extra day in Bombay
due to illness and his assessment of the state of affairs there, further, that
he will be departing for Baroda in the evening and return
to Bombay on Tuesday night. It was
reassuring to learn by way of your letter regarding the ticket arrangements
from Bombay to Delhi and then Delhi
to Lukhnow. Furthermore, Ali Mia has also written from Medina Munawwara, he
writes regarding his stay in Riyadh and Kuwait
and return to Bombay on 25th
or 26th Sha’ban.
You did well organising
Moulana’s bayaan amongst the Haji’s, very well indeed. I was disappointed to
learn that the ship is inoperative. Passengers from the second ship generally
reach their destination in the last 10 days of Ramadhan, but now the poor
fellows will have to spend the whole Ramadhan in the ship. May almighty Allah
facilitate them. Mughal Line earns millions of Rupees, yet they are unwilling
to buy new ships. It would be in everyone’s interest if by means of the Haj
committee or other channels we were able to pressure them into expanding their
fleet.
I was surprised to learn Ali Mia travelled to Riyadh
from Jeddah; there is a direct flight to Riyadh
from Medina Munawwara. Ali Mia penned in his Medinite letter of departing from
Jeddah after the Juma prayers to arrive in Riyadh
in time for Isha. I am pleased that Qari Sahib is spending the holy month in Bombay,
may almighty Allah accord the people of Bombay
the good grace to gain benefit. If it is convenient to do so then kindly,
present my sunnah greeting and request for prayers.
I was delighted at the arrival of Muhammad Iqbal Khilji. May
almighty Allah accept those persons who are travelling to Baroda,
and may he make it a means to fruition and blessing. I imagine the people in Baroda
will begin to disperse by tomorrow evening i.e. Tuesday.
That is all. Salaam.

If dearest Abdul-Qadeer has returned from Baroda,
kindly communicate my sunnah greeting and inform him: I have appended a
response to your card within Haji Yakub Sahib’s letter. I received a second
card that you wrote prior to departing for Baroda.
With the second ship out of action, to secure a seat in the first ship was
going to prove difficult, however, with the onset of Ramadhan I believe most people
will not arrive. May almighty Allah accord you the means to facility.
In today’s mail, I received an envelope from Brother Mahmood
Sahib from Makkah Mukarramah through Moulana Manzoor Sahib who posted it from Bombay.
Master Mahmood Sahib writes that he has put to you a certain request, he asks
that I intercede on his behalf for the request to be realised....................
May almighty Allah grant you an abundant reward; you were created for the
service of humanity. Thousands benefit through your services yearly. May
almighty Allah accord you an extremely lofty rank. This useless-one can but
only pray. What else can I do?
That is all. Salaam.

After the sunnah greeting. You failed to mention anything
about my dear Molvi Yusuf bin Sulaiman Motala, how is he? What is the extent of
his injuries? If you have any information kindly, forward the same. I am ever
so worried.
That is all.
