Volume 1 letter 81
From: Hazrat
Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib (May his secret be sanctified)
To: Moulana
Abdur-Raheem Sahib (May his shadow be lengthened)
Date: 19th
Rajab 1388/ 11th October 1968
After the sunnah greeting, I dispatched a card in yesterdays post in response to your letter of affection, I also penned therein that dearest Yusuf’s registered post arrived today and that there is a sealed envelope in your name. Furthermore, another letter arrived in yesterday’s mail from a particular sahib which also included a letter from dearest Yusuf. The substance of it reads as follows ‘I have written a separate letter to Moulana Abdur-Raheem, I look forward to receiving a reply immediately upon its receipt, subsequent to obtaining permission from Hazrat. Kindly pray that Almighty Allah makes my journey easy, in addition to staying in Hind and Hejaz, I will also stay with a jama'at, but in these two places specifically, I will be staying with Hazrat. I cannot wait for 13th October to arrive in order that I may depart from here. My journey will be by car. That is all. The wording has been condensed.
As yet no separate letter has arrived explicitly in your name; however there is an envelope for you in mail registered to me, possibly there is a mention of a letter therein. Also, I failed to understand what he meant by ‘in addition to staying in hind and Hejaz, I will also stay with a jama’at’; I also failed to determine where he will be travelling to first Hejaz or Hind. Since he has informed us that he will be departing on the 13th October, and despite Molvi Ismail’s reservations with regard to the letter reaching in time, I have taken it upon myself to immediately have a letter written to him, in which I’ve notified him of receipt of his registered post and your departure from here for home. If any correspondence is received there kindly relay the details to me.
Additionally, you wrote in yesterday’s letter of your visit to the doctor with your wife, I trust that you have visited the same and treatment is in progress. May almighty Allah grant her recovery. Communicate my sunnah greeting to her and to khala sahiba.
That is all.
Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib
Dictated to Ismail
On concluding the above I received an air letter from dearest Yusuf, whilst he mentions a letter in his correspondence he neglects to specify what type, therefore I opened it. Therein he requests that you immediately contact him and plea on his behalf to come, in order that it will serve him in obtaining permission from khaloo sahib. I can’t understand his coming here, but he writes with regard to the support and alleviation of expenditure travelling with the jama’at. Therefore, I have taken it upon myself to forward a letter to him forthwith on your behalf, in addition there are further instructions: kindly refrain from sending any books with Muhammad as I am coming, kindly send these items with Muhammad; Rogan Khashkas, Rogan Kawa, two bottles of collyrium, one bottle of Nurul-Ain and three Lunghis. That is all.
From the writer: sunnah greetings. There is a great deal of detail in the letter about the journey. The journey will be by car and will cost £150; in addition to the Hejaz there will be opportunities to visit various other places of interest, he will depart from here and head for Hejaz and he will arrive in Pakistan, from there to India and thereafter he will spend the holy month in Saharanpur and then onto the Hejaz. I have taken it upon myself to briefly avail you of these details without Hazrat’s knowledge. That is all.
Molvi Abdul-Mannan Sahib is in attendance at this time, he and Abdul-Qadir, Molvi Hashim as well as other friends send their sunnah greeting. There was no gift for brother Talha hence if you happen to visit Surat kindly Itr Champa and Majmua.
