Volume 1 letter 36

From: Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib (May his secret be sanctified)

To: Hazrat Moulana Yusuf Motala Sahib (May his lofty shadow be lengthened)

Date: 16 th Zil-Hijjah 1386/ 27 th March 1967

Dearest Molvi Muhammad Yusuf,

After the sunnah greeting, I received only the one letter from you and I believe it has been responded to. Nevertheless, dearest Talha never fails to mention you in his letters. He referred to your feelings of sadness and disappointment and it pierced my heart. Our ties should be with the Holy Being who is Alive, Everlasting, Sovereign, Creator, Provider, and friend. This worthless one prays for you from the heart, may almighty Allah grant you an abundant wealth of knowledge and virtue. The departure and eventual parting from your madrassa on my account, weighs heavily upon this sinner.

An additional motive for my writing to you at present is that someone handed in a signed letter from Molvi Gulam Rasul Ghodharwi; there is no return address, hence it is going to be difficult to reply. Kindly dispatch a card and write the following: I know you were disappointed with the lack of notification of my arrival in Bombay, but this worthless one knew very little about it, since it was not decided until the last minute, moreover the family were not informed either. Furthermore, kindly send a card to Molvi Abdur-Raheem, Gulam Muhammad, Ismail, and Abdul Aziz informing them of my well-being and that I am praying for them earnestly.

I am disappointed that the comprehensive letter sent by Molvi Abdur-Raheem from Bombay failed to arrive, considering Molvi Gulam Muhammad put an express delivery ticket on it. Should you write to the Principal at your madrassa or the lecturers, then kindly communicate my salutations to them and inform them I am praying for them sincerely.

According to Molvi Gulam Muhammad's letter, his wedding should be complete by now, but I have not received any information of dearest Abdur-Raheem's nuptials. I hope they have concluded with grace and simplicity.

That is all. Salaam

Muhammad Zakariya
