Volume 1 Letter 146
From: Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib (May Allah enlighten his resting place)
To: Hazrat Moulana Yusuf Motala Sahib (May his lofty shadow be lengthened)
Date: 8 th Jamadi Aluwla 1389/22 nd July 1969
After the sunnah greeting, it has been several days since I received your air letter, wherein you informed me of your anticipated arrival in Jeddah between the afternoon of Saturday 19 th and Sunday night. I did not want to see you inconvenienced in an alien environment, in my foolishness, I wrote to some friends in Jeddah, Mamu Yameen and dearest Sadi in Makkah. The friends in Jeddah were asked to hire a car and if you were in the state of ihram, to route you to Makkah and Madrassa Solitiya. I further instructed Mamu Yameen that upon your arrival in Makkah, he kindly, with the aid of someone, assist you in completing the Umra and arrange a car to Medina Munawwarah.
Some of my friends in Jeddah traipsed up and down the airport waiting for the flight to arrive. Mamu Yameen and Aziz Sadi arrived with a hired car, with the rate of travel to Makkah and the cost of going directly from Jeddah to Medina. It was late at night when they arrived at the airport, and since the flight had already arrived before their advent, they proceeded to search for you after the Morning Prayer, in and around the usual haunts in Jeddah. They later ascertained from airport officials that you were not on the flight.
Your nonappearance withstanding, it upset me a great deal that my letters led to them being inconvenienced all night, added to that, the cost of the hire car between Makkah and Jeddah. I thought you might write to inform me as to the reasons for your postponement. However, it is now the 23 rd and still no correspondence. It would have been convenient had you arrived on schedule, I am embarrassed to write to them a second time.
That is all. Salaam
Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib
