Volume 1 Letter 143
From: Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib (May Allah enlighten his resting place)
To: Hazrat Moulana Yusuf Motala Sahib (May his lofty shadow be lengthened)
Date: 15 th Rabiu-Thani 1389/30 th June 1969
After the sunnah greeting, your initial letters were sent in quick succession and with each one you had pleaded with me to permit you to visit here. Moreover, all those who have arrived here had proclaimed your imminent arrival. Consequently, I needlessly awaited your arrival. At the outset, I wrote to you, insisting that you need not hurry, since you have already been inconvenienced, both physically and monetarily. However, when it became known that my passport was only valid until October and the possibility of an extension was uncertain, I wrote to you and permitted you to come and to bring your madrassa receipt book with you. Up until I had written to you asking you to come, you persisted in asking my consent; now that I have permitted you to travel, you are suddenly speechless.
For five or six days I have been impatiently awaiting your letter, particularly when Ali Mia mentioned you in his letter to me, namely that Moulana Yusuf Motala has also recently arrived. I ventured you might write details of Ali Mia’s schedule, because from his letter I expected his departure to be immediately upon completing his week in Tabligh, he should have left some days ago, as indicated in his letter.
If he should still be present, kindly communicate my sunnah greeting and mention that as I understood from his correspondence, his departure was to be on the first plane after 20 th June, hence I forwarded a response to his letter to Lukhnow. Correspondence from Moulana Manzoor Nu’mani Sahib was received here addressed to Sufi Iqbal Sahib, in actuality, it was for my attention, and Sufi Iqbal Sahib responded on my behalf. Along with a letter for your own attention, I also included in the envelope a letter for Moulana Manzoor Nu’mani Sahib and requested him to look after it and convey it to Ali Mia on his return or to Muhammad Thani.
I waited for correspondence from Ali Mia so that he might apprise me of his schedule, except there has been no further correspondence. Ali Mia penned in a previous letter that the late Molvi Nasrullah’s three sons are in attendance with him. I presume you will have made their acquaintance and forwarded my letter right away or at some later. A letter arrived from someone in London, kindly write a card to him on my behalf as follows:
Ali Bhai... (Address enclosed)
After the sunnah greeting, your air letter was gratefully received, this lowly one supplicates whole-heartedly on your behalf. May Almighty Allah protect you from all artifice, grant you success in both the abodes, and keep you in his protection. Frequent recitation of durood shareef is a most beneficial and an effective means for attaining one’s objectives. Endeavour to recite at least five rosaries daily. Near at hand there is a sincere friend of mine, namely Molvi Muhammad Yusuf Sahib Motala, in whose care I am sending this card, his address is.... faithfully make his acquaintance or try to exchange letters periodically.
That is all. Salaam
Hazrat Sheikh-ul-Hadith Sahib
