Sacrifices for Islam
Looking back at the long path that has brought us to the success and freedom that we enjoy today, it is evident that the only way forward was hardship and sacrifice. From the depths of ignorance to becoming the most cultured and successful ruling super-powers that ever ruled……yes, it definitely came at a price.
1900 years ago. A man took a vow never to smile until he liberated Islam. Travelling from country to country, through despair and torment, he later led a conquering army that liberated our Holy land of Palestine .
If we take a step back. Made to lie on a bed of hot coal until his blood, puss and sweat extinguished the flames, and still not denouncing Islam was how Hazrat Khabbab Radhiallaho Anho gave his sacrifice.
Another step back. Our beloved Prophet lying under a tree, with open wounds from being stoned, until his shoes clotted to his feet in blood.
Without a doubt, our predecessors made their sacrifices. With the current discrimination against Muslim countries today, it is for us to ponder whether we have carried the flag of Islam forward with our effort and sacrifice. For success lies in Islam and Islam can only be taken forward by individual sacrifice.
Allah Almighty states in the Quran:
“Surely, with every hardship comes easiness”
The question now stands, how can we sacrifice? How can we regain the pleasure of Allah and attain the true status of Islam in Society? The only way Islam can rise in society is with the pleasure of Allah, and one of the most effective ways of gaining his pleasure, is through sacrifice for the cause, because we are proving to Allah that we care for this religion. It is said in a Hadith of the Prophet :
“If you walk towards Allah, he will come running towards you.”
The best of sacrifices is following the ways of the Prophet's many Sunnats. Sadly, we have abandoned these sacred acts, such as praying Tahajjud Salah, using the Miswaak – the so-called ‘Magic Stick' and many other Sunnats.
May Allah give us all the ability to follow the Sunnats of the Prophet , and again give the Muslims the respect they once owned.
Ameen.
